Diane Clark
Web Designer, Seamstress
Hey, I’m Diane! I make heirloom quality Raggedy Anns, Raggedy Andys, Beloved Belindys, awake and asleep Raggedy Ann & Andy, and the Camel with the Wrinkled knees! I can also embroider Raggedy Ann’s apron and Raggedy Andy’s cap with a name to personalize your dolls truly.
Part Seamstress.
I have loved to sew and design since I was a little girl. My grandmother, who had the patience of a saint, taught me to sew around the age of 8 on her Singer treadle sewing machine. And I still remember the pattern I used. Raggedy Ann & Andy McCall Pattern 820, 1940, the same pattern my grandmother used to make dolls for my mother when she was young.
Throughout the years, I have altered the patterns I use to ensure that the finished dolls represent the original dolls as possible. The three patterns I have patterned my dolls after 1940 McCalls 820; 1963 McCalls 6941; 2000 Simplicity 9447.
As the years went on, I made the dolls for my children, then my grandchildren. Soon others began asking me to make the sets, and www.raggedyannraggedyanydolls.com was born.
Later on I began making welding caps for my husband. And as he wore the caps, issues such as shrinkage and other minor problems were identified and perfected. As time went on, some of the unique and fun patterned caps gained popularity with my husband’s fellow Union members. Before long, I realized I needed a website so others could order caps – and I needed a way to keep track of those orders. Welding-caps.com officially launched in early fall 2019.
I am having a blast making these caps. I am always coming up with new ideas for embroidery designs and finding new and unusual fabric. Be sure to sign up for my newsletter; you never know what funky material I may see or what graphic I might start to offer.
Part Designer.
I have been involved in print media since I was 14 years old, working for print shops, magazines and newspapers. In the 90s, I worked for a newspaper just getting started with the Internet and worked as the Online Editor. I began to acquire my knowledge of HTML.
