20″ Beloved Belindy. On July 1, 1926, Johnny Gruelle authorized the P.F. Volland Company to begin selling the Beloved Belindy character doll as a tie-in to his forthcoming book bearing the same name.

And so began the journey and adventures of Beloved Belindy … Best Friend and the mammy of Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy and of all the other dolls in “Marcella’s” nursery.

Exclusive to Raggedys by Diane, each Beloved Belindy is handmade with love and care. The hand painted facial features and meticulously sewn clothing are just a couple of the many special touches that capture the character of those charming Beloved Belindys from days gone by.

Inspired by Volland and Georgene, Beloved Belindys facial features include a white mouth, eyebrows and red nose; all outlined in black. Her eyes are white four-hole buttons, with black thread stitched in an “X” pattern. She is dressed in a brightly colored floral-print skirt; and red blouse with four yellow buttons. The collar, sleeves and white apron is trimmed with an eyelet fabric.

My Knickerbocker inspired Beloved Belindys facial features include a white mouth, black eyebrows and red nose. Her eyes are black shoe buttons looking a little to the right. She is dressed in a red-white-&-yellow-white polka dot dress, and a rounded half-apron, trimmed in green bias tape. The collar and sleeves are trimmed with an eyelet fabric.

Both Beloved Belindys have red-white striped “stockings”, red shoes and white pantaloons. And no Beloved Belindy would be complete without her red bandana!
